This was supposed to be a nice relaxing week where I stayed home, worked a bunch of hours to save up money, watched tv, and read books (for fun!). That didn't really work out.

First, I've been sick for the whole week...mainly a sore throat that hurts when I swallow and gives my voice a funny burr.

Second, I was talked into going to my parents house to 'send off' my brother. This would have been okay but it just seems like I haven't gotten to pause since school ended. As soon as finals were over I had my reunion...I went to two events and the second I left the second one I drove down to Ocala (with all the kids and my dog in the car). I was supposed to come back home Tuesday morning, but somehow I kept getting talked into staying later - so I only got home about two hours ago. My house is a disaster, I have a ton of errands that need to get done, and frankly I'm WORN out. Between being sick and having stayed up late and gotten up early for a solid week, I need some SLEEP! Of course, I can't nap because I scheduled myself to work all day.

Okay, now I've fullfilled my update obligations and I must return to work. (I promise to try and catch up on everyone's posts over the past several days...so if you see a late comment coming in you'll know why!)

Words that mean something
I do not want people to be very agreeable, as it saves me the trouble of liking them a great deal.
----Jane Austen

We have to laugh.  Because laughter, we already know, is the first evidence of freedom.
----Rosario Castellanos

DUST OF SNOW
The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued. -Robert Frost

You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky.
— Amelia Earhart

When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.
— Leonardo da Vinci

I'm a failed poet. Maybe every novelist wants to write poetry first, finds he can't and then tries the short story which is the most demanding form after poetry. And failing at that, only then does he take up novel writing.
-William Faulkner

Poetry is the clear expression of mixed feelings.
- W.H. Auden
